What we want to become

A durable public reference that helps a reader locate sound information, understand basic geography and history, and see questions in context. Over time, it should connect maps, documents, datasets, reporting, research, and regional perspectives without pretending to settle contested questions.

How we approach the work

• Source-led: link readers to original institutions, research, and regional voices whenever possible.
• Independent: no institutional source on this site is an endorsement; sources can be useful, incomplete, disputed, or all three.
• Clear about uncertainty: distinguish established information, reported claims, analysis, and material that still needs verification.
• Accessible: readable, fast, and usable on a phone or slow connection.

What this is not

It is not an advocacy organization, a substitute for basin communities, or a claim to speak for the people who live with the river. It is also not a complete archive yet.

Language roadmap

English is the starting language. A careful, community-informed multilingual future should consider Simplified Chinese, Burmese, Lao, Thai, Khmer, and Vietnamese. We will not publish low-quality machine-translated editions simply to appear multilingual.
